Once upon a time there was a man who lived in a large house. He was an important servant of a king and had a very sick son who could not get out of bed at all. The man was very, very sad and very worried. He wanted his child to get well again and to be able to laugh and play!
One day, the man heard that Jesus was in a city called Cana. Cana was a long way away, but Jesus was able to heal sick people. So the man decided to go to Jesus to ask him for help.
When the man arrived at Jesus, he said in a pleading voice: “Please, Jesus, come with me to my house and heal my son! He’s so sick.”
Jesus looked kindly at the man and said: “Go home. Your son will be well again!” The man believed Jesus. He knew that Jesus was telling the truth. So he made his way home.
But before the man arrived home, his servants came to meet him. They laughed and rejoiced. They shouted: “Your son is well again! He’s fine!”
The man asked, “When did he get well?” The servants said, “Yesterday at this very time he was healed!” The man knew immediately: This was exactly the moment when Jesus had said that his son would be healed. He was so happy and grateful!
The man and his entire family now firmly believed in Jesus. They knew that Jesus is full of love and can perform miracles.
Message of history
God can do miracles if we trust Him. He loves us and wants to help us.
Bible passage
The story of Jesus healing the son of a royal official is found in John 4:46-54.
“And Jesus again came to Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. And there was a royal official, whose son lay sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him to come down and heal his son, for he was dying. Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you do not believe.” The royal official said to him, “Lord, come down before my child dies.” Jesus said to him, “Go, your Son lives.” And the man believed the word that Jesus said to him, and went away. And while he was still going down, his servants came to meet him and told him, saying, “Your son is alive!” Then he inquired of them about the hour when he had become better. They said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. Then the Father realized that it had happened at the hour when Jesus had said to him, “Your Son lives!” And he believed with all his house. This is the second sign that Jesus did again when he came from Judea to Galilee.”
