Peter heals the paralytic: miracles at the temple (Acts 3:1-10)

Divide:

One fine afternoon, two friends, Peter and John, went to the temple to pray. The temple was a large square where many people gathered to praise and pray to God. As they approached the temple, they saw a man sitting at the gate called “Beautiful.”

This man was paralyzed and could not walk. Every day, his friends took him to the temple gate so that he could ask for help. When Peter and John passed by, the man asked them for money. He didn’t expect anything else, because all these years that had only allowed him to have something to eat.

Peter and John stopped. Peter looked at the man kindly and said, “Look at us!” The man was excited and thought he would get some money. But Peter said, “I have no silver or gold, but what I have, I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk.”

Then Peter stretched out his hand and helped the man to get up. Suddenly, miraculously, the man’s legs became strong. He jumped up and began to walk. He was so happy that he even jumped and praised God! The people in the temple were amazed when they saw this. They recognized him as the man who always sat at the gate and asked for alms.

Everyone was amazed at the miracle that had happened. They ran together to see what had happened. The man joyfully held on to Peter and John as he walked through the temple. The people were full of wonder and joy at the power of God that had healed the paralytic. And Peter explained to them that it was the power of Jesus that had healed the man. Jesus loved people so much that He was able to help them in this way even after He returned to heaven.
