Once upon a time there was a faithful servant of Abraham, whose name was Eliezer. Abraham was a friend of God and he lived in a great country. One day, Abraham called his servant to him. “Eliezer,” he said, “I want you to find a good wife from my homeland for my son Isaac. Someone who loves God.”
Eliezer set out with many camels. The camels carried gifts and supplies for the journey. The journey was long and led through the desert. Eliezer was excited, but also a little worried about how to find the right wife for Isaac.
When Eliezer arrived in the city, he stopped at a well. He knelt down and prayed to God: “Lord, help me to find the right wife for Isaac. Let the woman I ask if she will give me water draw water for my camels as well. Then I know she’s the right one.”
No sooner had he finished praying than a young woman came to the well. Her name was Rebekah. She was beautiful and had a kind heart. Eliezer courageously asked her, “Please, give me a little water from your pitcher.”
Rebekah smiled and said, “Here, drink! I will also draw water for your camels.” She ran to the well and drew water many, many times until all the camels had drunk enough. Eliezer was amazed, because God had answered his prayer so quickly!
Eliezer gave Rebekah golden gifts and asked her about her family. He learned that she came from Abraham’s family. Full of joy, he knelt down and thanked God: “Blessed be the Lord, the God of my lord Abraham! He led me directly to Abraham’s relatives.”
Rebekka hurried home to tell her family everything. Thus began a wonderful story full of blessings and love, for Rebekah became the wife of Isaac.

Bible passage
The story of Rebekah and the Camels is found in 1. Moses 24:10-27:
“Then the servant took ten camels from his master’s flock of camels and went with him, with all kinds of goods of his master; and he arose and went to Mesopotamia, to the city of Nahors. 11 He made the camels lie down outside the city, by a fountain of water, in the evening, at the time when the creators come out. 12 And he said, “O Lord, God of my lord Abraham, let me prosper this day and show mercy to my lord Abraham.” 13 Behold, I am standing here by the fountain of water, and the daughters of the people of the city are coming out to draw water. 14 So if a girl comes to whom I say, ‘Draw your pitcher so that I may drink.’ And he said, “Drink, I will also water your camels,” and let it be the one whom you have appointed for your servant Isaac; and by this I will know that you have shown mercy to my Lord. 15 And it came to pass, before he had finished speaking, behold, Rebekah, who had been born to Bethuel, the son of Milkah, the wife of Nahor, the brother of Abraham, came out, and she carried a pitcher on her shoulder. 16 And the maiden was very beautiful in face, a virgin, and no man had recognized her. She went down to the spring, filled her pitcher, and climbed up. 17 Then the servant ran to meet her and said, “Let me drink a little water from your pitcher.” 18 And she said, “Drink, my lord! And she hurried down her pitcher on her hand and gave him something to drink. 19 And when she had given him something to drink, she said, “I will also draw for your camels until they have drunk enough.” 20 And she hurried and poured out her pitcher into the watering troughs, and ran again to the well to draw, and drew for all his camels. 21 And the man watched her in amazement, but remained silent to know whether the Lord had given grace to his journey or not. 22 And it came to pass, when the camels had drunk enough, that the man took a golden nose-ring, weighing half a shekel, and two clasps for her arms, weighing ten shekels of gold, 23 and said, “Whose daughter are you?” Tell me! Is there room in your father’s house to spend the night with you? 24 Then she said to him, “I am the daughter of Bethuel, the son of Milkah, whom she bore to Nahor.” 25 And she said to him, “There is also a lot of straw and fodder with us, and room enough to spend the night.” 26 Then the man bowed down and bowed down to the Lord, 27 and said, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of my lord Abraham, who has not lacked his mercy and his faithfulness to my Lord; the Lord has led me the way to the house of my Lord’s brothers!”
