One day, Jesus told people a story. He was sitting by the lake and many people came to listen to him. He wanted to explain to them something very important about God.
Jesus said , “A farmer went into the field to sow seed.” The farmer had a large bag full of small seeds. He reached into it and threw the grains on the ground.
👣 Some seeds fell on the path. The earth there was hard and dry. Soon birds flew in. Flap, flap, flap! They picked up the seeds and ate them.
🪨 Other seeds fell on stony ground. There was only a little bit of soil there. The seeds began to grow— hush, hush!— but because the soil was so thin, they didn’t get strong roots. When the sun shone hot on them, they dried up.
🌿 Still other seeds fell into the thorns. They began to grow, but the thorns were faster. ,! The thorns took away their space and light, and the small plants could not grow large.
🌱 But some seeds fell on good soil! The earth was soft and rich. The seeds grew well, and the plants grew big and strong. In the end, there was a great harvest! The good plants produced many grains.
Then Jesus said: “He who has ears should listen carefully!”
People looked at each other. What did Jesus mean by that? Later, he told his disciples: “The seed is like God’s word. The heart of the people is like the ground. Those who listen well and trust in God will grow like good plants.”

Bible passage
The parable of the sower is found in Matthew 13:3-9.
“And he spoke many things to them in parables, saying, Behold, the sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside, and the birds came and devoured it. Others, however, fell on the rocky ground, where there was not much earth; and it soon sprang up, because it had no deep earth. But when the sun rose, it was burned; and because it had no root, it withered. Others, however, fell among the thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it. Others, however, fell on the good soil and bore fruit, one a hundredfold, the other sixty, the other thirtyfold. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
