Experience stories with Tom and Hanna at the waterfall

Divide:

Waterfall experience

Tom, Hanna, Lukas and Emma jumped out of the car excitedly when they arrived at the hiking trail to the waterfall. The sun was shining warmly from the sky, and a gentle wind made the leaves whisper in the trees.

“It’s going to be great!” exclaimed Lukas enthusiastically. “I’ve never seen a real, big waterfall before!”

“Neither do I,” Emma said, pulling her water bottle out of her backpack. “I’m curious to see how loud the water rushes!”

Mom, Dad and the four friends began to walk along the narrow path. The path was lined with moss and small flowers, and again and again they heard the babbling of a brook next to them. Hanna stopped for a moment and listened. “Do you hear that?” she said softly.

“Yes!” cried Tom. “The waterfall sound is getting louder! We’ll definitely be there in a moment!”

After a few more steps, they turned a corner – and then they saw it: in front of them, the waterfall raged into the depths. The water rushed down over large rocks and splashed in all directions. The sun made the fine water beads glitter as if someone had thrown a thousand small diamonds into the air.

“Wow!”, Emma whispered in amazement. “That looks beautiful!”

The friends sat down on a rock and watched the natural spectacle. The mist of the water felt cool on their faces, and a little rainbow danced in the sun’s rays.

Suddenly, Hannah said, “This reminds me of the story of creation. God made all of this here – the water, the sun, the trees. Isn’t that incredible?”

Tom nodded. “Yes, and we are allowed to see and feel all this. Maybe we should just thank God for that.”

“That’s a good idea,” Lukas said. “I don’t know how to do it, but I’ll just try.”

They all closed their eyes, and Tom said:

“Dear God, thank you for this beautiful nature, for the sound of the water, the glittering light and the fresh air. Thank you for allowing us to experience this today. Amen.”

“Amen,” Hanna, Lukas and Emma repeated quietly. Emma smiled thoughtfully. “I never thought a waterfall would be so cool.”

“God’s creation is full of surprises!” said Hanna happily.

The children sat there for a while until it was time to start their way back. As they descended the path, they were happy and chatted a lot – as if the waterfall had brought them not only water, but also joy and wonder.

Because sometimes a moment in nature is enough to feel how wonderful God’s creation is.

Bible passage

A Bible passage that describes God’s creation and glory in nature can be found in Psalm 19:1-2:

“The heavens tell of the glory of God, and the expanse declares the work of his hands. One day bubbles up to the other customer, and one night reports knowledge to the other.” (Psalm 19:1-2, Schlachter 2000)

These verses show that nature—whether heaven, water, or light—reveals God’s creation, and we can recognize it as a sign of His glory.
